Future Materials Group’s Jon Stowell presents at JEC Composites Talks India 2025
Mumbai, India – 11th December 2025 – Future Material Group’s (FMG) Senior Director, Jon Stowell, recently presented at JEC Composites Talks India 2025. The event brought together industry leaders from across the advanced materials industry for a high-level strategic dialogue on the future of composites in India and beyond. Jointly organised by JEC Group and the FRP Institute, the event underscored India’s growing importance in global composites and aerospace supply chains.
A key contribution to the programme came from FMG’s Jonathan Stowell, who presented a data-led overview of the global aerospace outlook and India’s expanding role within it. The presentation was prepared in partnership with FMG’s sister company, Counterpoint Aero, the trusted market intelligence providers for the aerospace and defence sector. Jon’s talk highlighted that while composites already represent the majority of material value in aerostructures, much of the global aircraft fleet, remains predominantly metallic. With aircraft production ramp-ups placing significant strain on global supply chains, the presentation emphasised the need for new capacity, greater resilience, and geographic diversification. Against this backdrop, India is increasingly being viewed by OEMs as a strategic partner, supplying more complex structures and components and moving steadily up the aerospace value chain.
The wider agenda spanned key end-use sectors including aerospace, defence, infrastructure, mobility, and renewables, with discussions focused on how advanced materials can support performance, sustainability, and long-term industrial resilience. Speakers highlighted how composites are increasingly central to lightweighting, energy efficiency, and next-generation design across multiple industries.
A strong emphasis was placed on aerospace, where composites now represent the largest share of material value in aerostructures. Presentations explored both the opportunities and challenges facing the sector, including supply-chain pressures driven by aircraft production ramp-ups and the need for greater capacity, resilience, and geographic diversification.
Sustainability and circularity were also key themes throughout the day. Dedicated sessions examined practical approaches to composites recycling, waste management, and emerging chemical recycling technologies, reinforcing the industry’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges alongside growth. The event concluded with a forward-looking discussion on talent development, automation, and the skills required to support a more advanced and digitally enabled composites industry. Collaboration between industry and academia was highlighted as essential to building a future-ready workforce.
Overall, JEC Composites Talks India 2025 reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and strategic investment in positioning India as a global hub for advanced materials and composites manufacturing. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to strengthening the ecosystem and supporting the next phase of growth for the industry.
